FEA (Finite Element Analysis) is based on defining a continuous region subdivided into small areas, where displacement functions are used to describe the deformation state of a continuous system. In this approach, a solution is formulated for each individual element, and these solutions are subsequently combined to obtain a global solution that represents the original shape or structure of the seal.

FEA allows for the systematic calculation of a seal's structural behavior and changes through the application of discretization. This process involves decomposing the original structure into an equivalent system composed of smaller, simpler units (elements). These elements are then assembled to accurately represent the actual structure. This necessitates the definition of a geometric mesh, which partitions the geometric model into numerous small, easily calculable elements.

FEA is not an exact method but rather an approximation. The collection of approximate values, as opposed to exact calculations, is derived from various parameters. When the model is correctly configured, the approximations obtained are extremely close to the exact solution, i.e., the final design of the seal.

At Maite Seals Technology (Guangzhou) Co.,Ltd , FEA is fully integrated into our CAD software. This allows us to rapidly and effortlessly optimize and validate each stage of the design process, verifying product quality, performance, and safety. Consequently, FEA is considered a standard part of our normal design workflow, significantly reducing the need for costly physical prototypes and eliminating rework and delays.
